Dear Child,

As you spend your years growing up and learning many things, I hope you keep your environment in mind. Not only the people around you, but the nature too. Take care of all the living things around you, especially the ones that cannot stand up for themselves or do not have a voice. Remember that the Earth is generous and in return you must protect it. Please create and subscribe to your own ideals on the world, do not be persuaded by politics or economics. Decide for yourself and use your intuition to preserve and protect the earth you walk on.

More Messages to the Future

Dear Grandchildren — August and any others who were born after him

I joined millions of other people who wrote letters and made calls urging our leaders to do more to care for the planet.

Dear Future Me,

I promise that I will change my behavior to benefit our trees.

My darling Cassidy,

I know I need to write this to you, and I don’t want to because it makes me so sad. I have been desperately avoiding my feelings about climate change, for many years, but especially and with greater intensity every year since you were born.

Dear Jack,

Right now you are only a little over 5 weeks old, but you have truly changed my whole world. Your Mom and I always say that we thought we loved before you were born, but now that you have come into the world and we met you, our ability to love just expanded exponentially.

Hello spawn,

I am small now littles and I may be small forever but in my small ways I will fight for you.

Dear Future

My hope is for all who live in your time to still know the joy of swimming in the ocean, walking through the woods, and hiking in the mountains.

To My Future Nephews,

I want you to see those corn fields in the north, the beautiful beaches down in Florida, and the stars in the woods at night.

Dear future self,

I am writing this to keep myself accountable and push myself towards taking action towards a sustainable future. I hope children of the future can still appreciate the wonders that nature and all its beings have to offer, appreciate the beauty in the world around us.

To My Future Children,

Most importantly, I hope you live in a world where science is taken seriously and fact is clearly distinguished from fiction.

Dear Lila

So today, my strong and spunky girl, I promise you this: I will stay vigilant and flexible. I will spread the word.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to shop at more farmer’s markets.

Dear Hailey and Lily,

We know about this. If we don’t fix this for you, it’s our fault.
