To My Children,

Dear Future Children,

I am 15 years old now and writing you this letter after my sister, your Aunt, sent me a link. I am writing this to you, just as a nice memory of what life used to look like. We live in a time of terrorism but also innovation now, and I hope for you that you don’t have to live your childhood in the fear of a bomb in the metro etc. I hope for you that you grow up in a world that knows peace and collaboration. I will do everything in my power to do that for you.

Since the Industrial Revolution we have been thinking of expansion and always wanting to make this bigger – the bigger the better. I wish for you that you know better, sometimes smaller is smarter. Efficiency is key!

Its the year 2030/2050 and I am either 30 or 50…haha… so damn old!

Anyway all I want you to know is that I wish the world for you and not only do I wish it, but I will work hard for it. I want you to know that I will try my best to raise you into the best human beings that you can possibly be. My goal as a parent is not to make the perfect child, my goal is to make a child who feels perfectly happy in their own skin. I want to raise you as educated,international, conscious people, who knows I might be raising the leaders of tomorrow (no pressure).

But being truthful, I know we are not yet on the path that will lead to the change that is needed; but it is visible.
 

My dear granddaughter Christy,

My own curiosity and knowing what a caring, aware young woman you are help me override despair.
 

To My Future Self,

This lead me to my final project, which focused on reforming the education system to incorporate sustainability classes into the current curriculum.
 

Dear Jeremy,

We had a lot in common obviously, and our concern for the planet we live on was one of the many things we bonded over.
