As you look through your window, I hope you will see a bright future. I hope you dream big, and that you have the courage, drive, and fortitude to do everything you can to achieve those dreams.

To my Children,

As I look out my own window, I see green trees, flowers, and a peaceful world. But my mind drifts further, and I see wasteful use of material things, political and civil unrest, and air, water, and earth pollution. You are the future, but we are all the present. And we must all take responsibility for our actions and in-actions. Guilt over what we have done or not done in the past is non-productive, and although it can be used as a tool, we cannot dwell on it. Today is what is important, and if we continue to stay focused on the issues at hand, it will lead to a better tomorrow. I have faith in you and your generation, and I believe that your values and aspirations are certain to prompt change for a better world. I am so unbelievably proud of you all!

To my Grandchildren,

Your parents are doing their best to bring you up to respect our environment and take care of our beautiful planet. The things you are learning now will help you to realize your dream of the future. We are blessed to be living in the greatest nation on Earth. We have not progressed as a nation or as a world without innovative inventors, scientists, agronomists, business people and others. But with those advancements come inevitable change….both in the environment and in the social realm. We are blessed to have conveniences our forefathers could not have imagined. But with those conveniences come responsibilities, and we must invoke a mindset change in order to continue living well on this awesome planet we call home. You will carry the torch to encourage that change. By the time you are my age, you will most assuredly have experienced inventions and technologies I could never have imagined. Hopefully those advancements will have been made with the environment holding top priority in their production.

As you look through your window, I hope you will see a bright future. I hope you dream big, and that you have the courage, drive, and fortitude to do everything you can to achieve those dreams.

The following presentation was inspired by two of my granddaughters’ pictures. The message not only pertains to them, but to people of all ages. You are never too old to follow your dreams.
