Dear Zivi and Ayala,

I am writing to you as Father’s Day 2018 approaches.  You two, now aged 4 and 2, are asleep upstairs in your room: Zivi, on your mattress on the floor, and Ayala in your crib, surrounded by your posse of stuffies and your two blankies. Your mother and I are downstairs on our laptops, working.

I’ll be honest: I don’t know enough about climate and climate change. I know that climate is a complex system, and that human activity is very likely impacting it.  And I am concerned about how this might affect the world you will inhabit.

Many people have strong opinions on a variety of issues, and in some cases the strength of the opinion exceeds the strength of the evidence. I strive for humility in this regard. I hope my humility and caution is not in error.

This Earth is precious. Care for it.

Aba
