Dear Me of Tomorrow,

In the future, I would like to preserve Lake Champlain in upstate New York. I know that you might not know what that is but it’s a lake that I hold dear. My grandparents used to live there before they moved down south to Florida. I don’t want that lake to be polluted because there are too many pretty places that have been destroyed in the world. Has this place been contaminated by waste and/or other things left over from human “progress”?

In the year 2016 it was the hottest year on record, seeing as it was 0.94 degrees in Celsius and 1.69 in Fahrenheit [above normal]. I know why this is: people are burning trees. Trees take in carbon dioxide and release oxygen but when trees are burned they just release more carbon dioxide. Also, once the tress are burned up there will be less trees to take in the Co2. This leaves the Co2 and greenhouse gases in the atmosphere where it will heat up the Earth causing global warming.

I hope that Lake Champlain doesn’t dry out or get polluted beyond repair. I promise that I will not burn a living tree. I won’t litter. I will put trash in the trash can and recycle as much as possible. I will protect the animals that need me both here as well as in Lake Champlain.

Love.
