Dear Future Generations,

I hope all is well with what you’re dealing with environmentally. I can’t imagine the magnitude of what you all may be facing in the years to come. As of now, it is November of 2017. I’m currently 19 and living within the city of Chicago. Currently, our world is in an unsustainable place due to the United States government, under Donald Trump, who is denying climate change’s existence. The government have even cancelled events in which scientists discuss climate change. All of the students and people working in the environmental field, as well as other concerned citizens, are deeply worried about this issue.We are now past the point of no return, we must learn to live with our choices and the Trump Administration has just put us four steps backwards. I hope by the time someone sees this in 2050, this will no longer be an issue and the public, as well as the government, will be on the same side, battling climate change and doing everything we can to stop it. I truly hope this is a transformative time in world history and humanity will be on a better track. However, we have a long way ahead of us and environmentally concerned people, such as myself, are working very hard to make people aware and get this process started because the choices we are making right now are not sustainable for the future. I do hope the choices you make within the society you live in are for the better of the world and not just yourself. As of now were are reaching the threshold of two degrees celsius above normal temperatures. I hope that by the time you’re reading this, the temperature has stagnated and ceased to increase substantially. Climate change is more than just a political and social issue, but it’s also a survival issue. I wish you the best, and to really appreciate what you have in terms of your environment because someday it may also cease to exist.
