Cecilia,

We love singing the song, ‘What a wonderful world’. I want you to know that it’s our job to keep the world a beautiful place. It’s tempting to blame big, foreign cities when you hear about problems with Global Warming. It’s easy to think major climate change might happen a long time in the future. The truth is, there is only one world and our actions make a difference. For example, the creek by our house connects to a river and the river can flow to a big lake or ocean. All along the way the water touches people, plants and animals.

When you grow up, I want you to enjoy the beautiful ocean filled with dolphins. I want you to hike up mountains and breathe in fresh air. I want you to drink clean water and eat good food.

As your Mom, I need to do better about thinking of all the little things I can do to help ensure this world is healthy and beautiful for you and for your children.

I want to teach you the importance of making less waste and using less energy. I want to grow veggies in our garden so you understand where food comes from – our Earth. I want to let the people we vote for know how important these initiatives are to our family.

If everyone does their part, I’m confident the world can be an even better place when you are an adult. God gave us a wonderful home, we must take care of it.

I love you baby!

Mom
