Would there be a future where my future kids will not be able to experience what I did when I was younger?
Honestly speaking, I did not see climate change to be big issue until 4 years ago. I remember when I used to be kid, my parents took me up to the Sierra Nevada to go look at the snow. It was a magically experience. It was something that I always seen in movies and photos but never actually got to see for myself. When my parents told me that we were going to go to Reno for vacation. I was ecstatic. When I returned in 2015, I noticed that there wasn’t as much snow as before. I was thinking about it and I was thinking about the future. What would happen in the next several years? Would there be a future where my future kids will not be able to experience what I did when I was younger?
Climate change doesn’t seem to affect society right now. I always heard people say that you should live in the “now” rather than the “future”. This is true in many ways. However I do not think it apply to climate change where it is not reversible. We can apologize for our mistakes and try to fix it, but with climate change we can’t do much once it already started.
The idea of that happening seems to be a reality. Changing the course of climate change is a difficult matter on its own, however I believe that if more people become aware of the impact of climate change. Then I am hopeful that there will be a change in the turn. What I experienced in my childhood, I want to pass it down to my children. I want them to experience the joy and wonder that I felt.
