To Future Me,

Dear future. Today is 2017 1st February, 10.26 PM. I’ve seen a movie about climate change, its called Before The Flood. The only thing that I can think of is this movie showed me how far we are from destroying our future and world. The movie is a true inspiration. Right here and now I’m only a poor 14 years old girl who is living in a small house with 7 people in it and 4 bedrooms, and dreaming something big, saving our world and become a successful person. I’m sorry if I’m spelling wrong because the laptop is Norwegian language and it’s kind of hard to write English. I just want to say. You can do it, save the world, save people who need help, save the future. We all need faith in ourselves and the world. It’s always the way out of the nightmares. I only hope maybe one day I can be one of the people who saved thousands of life. As Leonardo said “I do not take this world for granted” and you shall not do it either. In 2030 I hope I’m a good person who’s living the life happily. I may write some few more letters since its late and I’m tired so I’m not really so sure what I’m writing.

I hope that you all can enjoy the Smokey Mountains in your lifetime too and that they look how they did back in 2017 when I saw them.

Dear Tomorrow,

My climate promise is to stop using electricity too much.

I promise to stop using a plastic straw.

Dear Future Self,

I am scared of the things happening right now with our planet.

To my future Niece,

While I will work my hardest to create any positive change I can, you must continue this quest. You cannot give up hope, and you must always remember that the beauty on this Earth is worth saving.

Dear my future loved ones,

I hope that humans can live harmoniously with the earth.

Dear Tomorrow,

I am so sorry we didn’t realize this predicament sooner.

To my precious grandchildren, Emma, Maya, Maddie and Will,

With love and a great hope for the future, a future that will be healthy and sustainable for you, my precious grandchildren.

Dear Nova and Remi,

I wish for you both that another kind of life has been discovered, one of peace, moderation and concern for all life.

Dear Elliott,

We’re moving into uncertain times, and your dad and I worry. A lot. But you’re keeping us going. You’re pushing us to make better choices and not give up.

Dear Grandchildren,

So here we are. In 2022 millions of people are suffering from the climate catastrophes, killing pollution and pandemic, not mentioning about poverty, gender and social injustice, racism, wars and dictatorships that can go on as long as bad people in power are allowed to grab our natural resources.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to shop at more farmer’s markets.
