It was when I was visiting my family in the Philippines of summer 2017 where I started to realize how I was taking this climate for granted. I went to use at the end of the hall which I was in the room I was staying in I left the light on since I was only going to be gone for a little bit. Though, when I came back I ran into my cousin he said, “you didn’t turn off the light.”
“I was only using the bathroom.”
“It doesn’t matter, you’re wasting energy.” I was impressed with this kid since he was younger than me and he’s concerned about the relation of mother nature.
This made me think about the times I didn’t care about using so much energy in my house or wasting water either. When I’m in my home I would carelessly leave the lights on for some silly reason instead of looking at the broader picture on how it can globally harm us. This makes me feel so guilty how it can subtly harm our only Earth. So Tomorrow, be brave to turn off those lights when leaving the room even if you fear the dark. Don’t leave the water running in your kitchen/shower unless you are really going to use it. And lastly, remember to always recycle the coffee cup/soda can you might have in your hand!
We only have one Earth and there is no other planet like it. Now, let’s take care of it together.
