Dear future recipient,

For myself, the year is 2016. Currently I am awaiting with anticipation for the presidential election of 2016 between Trump, Hillary, Gary, and Jill that is less than 2 months away. Personally, I am hoping Jill wins and I am voting likewise. She seems to be the only candidate speaking about climate change and genuinely wants to do something about it. I know about the harm climate change is and will have in the future, but I admit that I struggle with relating it to my own life. I struggle to actually do something about it besides just voting for a politician. I live in a small but growing town in west Texas. There is not much to do here activity wise, however we desperately need a political or revolutionary organization of some sort.

I cannot imagine what life is like for you, wherever you are. I hope that by the time you are an adult we as the human race will have taken dramatic action to address climate change and other major issues. I read of the predicted effects of climate change such as more warfare, damage of the oceans, rising sea levels, acid rain, extinction, rising food prices, towns swept under, and more violent weather and I fear for what kind of life you may have because of the actions of a few powerful people that refuse to fight. I don’t want to be one of those people that forecast doom and gloom everywhere but I think deep down I know that the world is changing and that we must change with it if the world is to survive.

I offer this advice: do something. You know the problems the world has, you have the internet at your fingertips, and technology has never been better. If you know of a problems, please, please, do not just think about it and do nothing. Resist the urge to think that you won’t make a difference, that it’s not worth your time, or that you will get to it another time. Just do it. I humbly make this promise to you right now: you will regret it later if you do not do something now.

I hope you live in a better world than mine, and I wish you all the very best,

Sincerely, a citizen of the world, year 2016.
