DearTomorrow,

I truly hope that more and more people listen and start to understand the dangers of non-renewable energy sources.

Dear future descendants,

Hi. I’m hoping that the world has improved substantially from the time I typed this to when you’re reading this.

Climate change, global warming and all similar talk has been something that has been circling and lurking throughout my whole life. I’ve always wanted to do something about it, but even as a child I had realised that it will take more than one nation to change the whole world. Obviously this is a major problem because it determines whether life will continue to flourish or end in a couple of decades. I was always told what to do to combat it but I was never sure whether it was going to work it’ll take a huge amount of persuasion, which I hope has happened. I wish I could do and learn more but we aren’t exposed to the realities of global warming as much as we should be to make a noticeable impact.

Personally, I don’t really remember helping in some sort of grand way for climate change. But I do contribute to the small things such as conserving energy at home, by switching off things that I’m not using and taking public transport.

One of my barriers for not doing more about climate change is having the funds to partake. And another is not being regularly reminded on the importance of the issue of climate change.

As I age, I hope to be financially stable which will then induce my actions to help combat climate change. I would also like to show my children (if I will have any) how simple it can be and to set an example for them which they could take on in the future.

I plan to slowly but surely plan ahead and find solutions to the mistakes that I’ve been taught and replace them with renewable energy sources that’ll benefit me and, possibly, the earth.

In retrospect, I truly hope that more and more people listen and start to understand the dangers of non-renewable energy sources, which are drastically destroying the earth, in order to save it. I believe that everyone can have a revelation and it can happen whenever- I’ve had many revelations but my most recent, long-lasting and impactful one was when I watched Leonardo DiCaprio’s (my favourite and one of the greatest and influential actor ever born) documentary Before the Flood.  He makes you realise the animosity of the companies that control of businesses which hugely participate in the changes of the climate. I hope that things change and that you don’t have to deal with the pressure of a damaged earth and extinct animals. (Praying that the tigers, polar bears and pandas are still around in 2050).
