Dear Future Citizen,

I imagine you are living in comfort now. Everything is convenient for you to barely get out of your seat and the temperature in your home is always nice. Your entertainment and needs are nearby and the only outside obligations you have is to work to pay for these things readily available at your fingertips. I suppose your choice of inconveniences are to either be a little bit sweaty or having to get up off the couch. Although this is highly presumptuous, these conveniences of yours is the result of hard work, brainpower, and removing the energy the earth needs to thrive to power your devices and services. Us humans in 2017 have known about global warming ever since the 1950’s, and with little known efforts done, we haven’t helped out enough. I imagine the politics surrounding the issue is still being battled, as corporations supporting the use of fossil fuels are trying to make as much money as they can. However, the future is about fixing the pasts’ mistakes and I hope that the world is in a better place than it is now. The damage that we have done in our human history can still be fixed, however it is in your hands now. I wish you luck and comfort in your future.

More Messages to the Future

Dear Grandchildren,

So here we are. In 2022 millions of people are suffering from the climate catastrophes, killing pollution and pandemic, not mentioning about poverty, gender and social injustice, racism, wars and dictatorships that can go on as long as bad people in power are allowed to grab our natural resources.

Dear my future loved ones,

I hope that humans can live harmoniously with the earth.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to stop using a plastic straw.

Dear Tomorrow

I hope that environmental issues are a thing of the past.

To older Rochelle,

You should’ve reduced your carbon footprint, should be using some source of renewable energy and be a vegetarian by now.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to only use metal straws and reusable cups.

To anyone who has heard my music,

I promise to care about the planet.

To my children – Chase, Maya and Harlan

I hope that we manage to change the system really soon, while there is still time. So that you are not left with the mess, and trying to fix something that you didn’t cause. I hope we figured out a way to be kind, and caring for others who will suffer more than us. A way to let go of the greed and look at ways we can help others rather than take from them.

Dear Tomorrow,

I will work to restore the wetlands.

Dear Tomorrow,

We only have 11 years left until the damage done by climate change is irreversible.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to pick up trash at every beach I visit, use metal straws, take quick showers.

I want to tell you a story. Yes, another one.

Mankind has always been able to deal with the greatest challenges it’s faced and this will not be the exception. My message to you is: find that passion and give it your all. ‘Till your legs give out.
