Dear Ameen,

This world is a grand and beautiful place full of wonders. It breaks my heart to think that some of the amazing places on this planet that I’ve been fortunate enough to visit might look very different or even no longer exist when you are an adult. For that I personally apologize. I and many people today are doing some good things to minimize damage to the earth – recycling and reusing materials, etc. – but there are so many conveniences with our cars and flights and packaged goods that it’s tough to really do the right thing all the time. We all need to be better, and you and your beautiful curious eyes are my greatest reminder. I wish for you to see this great planet in all its beauty and I pray to be better in my everyday actions to do my part. I hope that your generation can forgive us and at the same time be the best generation, the ones who really figure it out and serve as a shining example of living as one with our earth. I love you always.
